The Quranic Compass in Self-Development ( 1 )
Dr. Nayef bin Nahar opened the discussion with a profound phrase "The Quran is our compass"
An important topic on the mind of every Muslim: how can the Quran be the compass that guides how we raise our children? 👨👩👧👦 And how do we focus on building their characters with good morals and sound guidance? The Quran is our main reference for all our values and principles, and above all we focus on "Rushd" meaning wisdom and right understanding, not just intelligence 🧠 and we must apply the concepts of the Quran in our daily lives so that we achieve psychological and social balance.
The Quran is not just a book of morals, it is a treasure of knowledge and guidance in every aspect of our lives📚 We must understand the Quran as a tool that guides people and runs society, and rethink how we deal with the Quran, not just as a book of blessing that we recite and that is that, but as a tool that builds our perceptions and our deep understanding of life 💡 The Quran contains the foundations of human knowledge in many fields such as politics, economics and education, and all this knowledge is tied to the guidance of the Quran so that we achieve good for everyone 🌟
Doubt is the key to certainty.. and the Quran is not only for blessing 🔑
Doubt in Islam can be the beginning of certainty, never an obstacle; on the contrary, it is a tool that develops our knowledge, and we must adopt doubt as a means of understanding facts more deeply.
The problem is that universities teach Islam only as a historical phenomenon, not as a source of guidance, and this stops us from benefiting from the Quran in academic fields of knowledge.
The separation between Quranic knowledge and academic knowledge is a major problem facing us as Muslims, and our failure to go back to the Quran to derive knowledge from it reflects our view of it as a book of blessing only, not a book of guidance. This view makes us ignore the Quran's guidance in our daily lives. Educational institutions see the Quran as a religious book unsuited to the sciences, and this reduces the possibility of deriving political knowledge from it. This perception weakens the Quran's influence, which is why there must be communication between researchers in the social sciences and the Quran so that we can reinvest the knowledge of the Quran in our research, and this communication can develop our Islamic thought.
Reflection is a duty.. and the cure for extremism is correct understanding
Reflecting on the Quran (tadabbur) is a duty on every one of us, and it is better for the Quran to be our main source in shaping our perceptions and judgements. Abandoning reflection on the pretext that we are not qualified makes us disconnect from the Quran.
There is a difference between reflection and interpretation (tafsir). Reflection is a duty on everyone, whereas for interpretation we can refer to the scholars. Reflection helps us correct our wrong ideas, and it is important for a person to consult someone more knowledgeable when deriving new ideas, and to be careful about extremism in understanding the texts of the Quran is essential, but the solution is not to abandon the texts
The solution is to treat extremism and guide towards correct understanding. ⚖️
