Omani student? Start here
Oman's Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation publishes a list of the Malaysian higher-education institutions Omani students may study at: 17 public universities and 23 private institutions, with the approved programmes at each. Studying at a university on this list, in an accredited programme, is the safe route to having your degree recognised after graduation.
On the MAIGA website, the page of every university on the list carries a "Recognized in Oman" badge, and so does the page of every programme you may study there, so you can choose with confidence.
The Omani Ministry of Higher Education's conditions
The Ministry sets conditions that apply to every university: prior approval from the Ministry before enrolling, through an online "continue studies" request on its website (enquiries: 24340900 or [email protected]), and a programme with full accreditation from the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA). Provisional or partial accreditation is not accepted, nor is a dual degree that MQA has not accredited.
Omani students are currently not allowed to study the Bachelor of Medicine (general medicine) in Malaysia. Some universities also have their own exception: APU, doctorate programmes only; UCSI, all programmes except the Doctor of Business Administration (DBA); and UniSZA, all except the Doctor of Medicine.
Universities recognised in Oman on the MAIGA website
The table below shows the universities on the Ministry's list that you can apply to through MAIGA, and what is recognised at each. Click a university to see its current programmes and fees, or ask a consultant about a specific one.
How MAIGA helps you, step by step
Send us your grades, your certificate and the field you want, and we suggest recognised programmes that fit your budget, check the programme's accreditation in the MQA register with you, and prepare the university and programme details the Ministry's prior-approval request asks for.
Then we file your application and follow it until the offer letter, then the student visa through EMGS, airport pick-up and housing. The final decision on equivalency always rests with the Ministry, so check the current list on its website before enrolling.
